    Some women perceive their birth to be traumatic. Understanding how a traumatic birth experience impacts breastfeeding and how this further exacerbates the emotional pain women experience. Discuss ways to help support these mothers in their healing.

    501     Hypoplasia/Insufficient Glandular Tissue
    Frequently we hear stories from mothers who claim to have "tried breastfeeding, but didn't have enough milk for the baby." We know that, for most of those mothers, there was a lack of breastfeeding management or support; but for some mothers, there really can be a problem with the "milk factory." Learn to recognize breasts that may be at risk for insufficient milk production and explore ways to compassionately and effectively help affected mothers maximize their breastfeeding potential.

    906     Helping Mothers with Flat or Inverted Nipples
    For nurses, lactation consultants, physicians, nurses aids and anyone who is working with new mothers in the hospital or the community who have flat or inverted nipples and have difficulty breastfeeding. In this session the provider will learn the equipment needed and how to use it to maximize the potential of teaching a mother how to evert flat and inverted nipples and how to preserve her milk supply until the baby is successfully latching on.
